Art According to Caroppoli
Art According to Caroppoli
I once read somewhere that Artists were the guardian angels of humanity. I laughed at this statement. However, out of my naiveté came an epiphany. I realized what these words meant. We as artists, explore, exploit, and expose the essence of all things from the Alpha to the Omega. We employ humanity to impose free will and to look upon the past, present, and the unknown. We guide and stimulate imagination, ignite humanities dreams, and share an entity and its infinities. We are the messengers.
Now I impose upon you the inner thoughts of the creative process. There is no concrete method. It is pure inspiration of the moment that flows to the creative zone and perseveres until the work is complete. The vision behind the work of art is what determines the method. I take pleasure in creating mystery, humor, and sarcasm in subtle and direct methods. My curiosity in different methods is captured in the end result.
My artwork is a collage illustration and fine art techniques. My painting style is akin to Jackson Pollock's method of dripping and splattering paint. Then I apply an additional process by painting on top of this method in an impressionist manner. This process involves a watercolor wash technique using oil paint. At times I utilize the concept of watercolor painting by going light to dark versus dark to light as in most traditional oil painting. A monochromatic under-painting boasts an iridescent feel, especially when viewed live.
What am I drawn to paint? I am evoked by the human body. Each of us is diverse yet similar. The human anatomy is a complexity. I thrive in the challenge of rendering a believable likeness in which you, the observer, get engulfed in the essence of the subject manner. Capturing this within the subject is the most important aspect to me. Success for me is the ability to expose this essence and invoke an emotion from the observer.
Sports and athletics has been a positive influence in my life. I have a fondness for painting the human body in athletic moments. There is something poetic about it that draws me in. Rendering the pre and post moments as well as the agony and victory of competitiveness is reflective of the human existence.
What am I influenced by? Tribal, Egyptian, Renaissance, Impressionism, and Greek Sculpture influence my style. I appreciate these over other genres for their influence and impact in history. All genres bring new life to art by building upon the past in order to create something unique.
Tribal art, ceremonies and rituals of cultures from all over the world are fascinating. There is mystery behind rituals and ceremonies, yet purpose that defines culture and heritage. I value representing these definitions in my paintings. Rituals and ceremonies are a reflection of the people such as art is to the artists. I find it intriguing that individuals adorn themselves in regalia or paint their body like a canvas to express their traditions.
I am the artist who explores, exploits, and exposes the essence of all things. I employ upon you to impose your own free will, stimulate your imagination, ignite your dreams and share in my creativeness. My goal is to influence and impact future generations. All artists should strive for this. Think art, its everywhere.
